The production, inspection and certification requirements for organic goods under European Union Regulation No. 834/2007 and 889/2008 and its amendments. The EU Organic seal dictates that agricultural practices are executed with consideration of environmental and animal welfare. Local resources and knowledge must be utilized when applicable and the production process must be respectful of nature. Standards are enforced via yearly inspection by control bodies. The use of antibiotics, GMOs, chemicals and pesticides are strictly prohibited.

The USDA Organic seal indicates agricultural products that meet production, inspection, and certification standards of the U.S. Department of Agriculture established by its National Organic Program. This regulation is applicable to domestic goods as well as organic products for export and import.
